I was invited to speak at an important conference, held on the 1st of December 2000 in Prague, on the subject of the economic, political and military significance of the European Union. At this conference, organised by The Prague District 1 of The Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSCM), comrade Vaclav Exner, vice-president of the KSCM, presented the Czech edition of my book on Imperialism, which had been in preparation and had just been published on the eve of the conference.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my heart-felt gratitude to the comrades of the KSCM for all the hard work they have done to publish the Czech version. In particular, I would like to thank comrade Stanislav Suja (who translated the book), comrade Milan Havlecek (who printed it), comrade Exner (who presented it to the above gathering at the above mentioned conference), and comrade Pavel Dektiar (who facilitated the project).
I conclude by expressing the hope that the Czech readership of this book will find it as useful as I have reason to believe has its English readership.
