Condolences to Comrade Joti Brar
The Editorial Board of Lalkar and the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist) express their deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Comrade Joti Brar, to her husband Carl Norburn, and to all their family members on the tragic death of their baby son Josef. Josef was stillborn on the morning of 22 July 2009, his heart having stopped beating some six hours earlier.
Joti and Carl have established a fund raising page with the charity Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) to raise funds for the children of Palestine in Josef’s name. Their appeal states:
“Nothing can undo what has happened, but we take some comfort from the fact that your gifts will go to help the children of Palestine, and especially of Gaza, who are the innocent victims of Israel’s war against them.
“MAP works to treat the illnesses, malnutrition and psychological damage caused to Palestinian children by the brutal Israeli occupation, siege and bombardment. They are also working to set up a midwifery hotline to give advice to vulnerable pregnant women.
“Anything you are able to give will be very much appreciated.”

While sharing our grief with Joti and Carl, we express our confident belief that they will surely turn that grief into renewed and redoubled strength dedicated to the finest cause on earth, the liberation of mankind, and the building of a world free of all forms of oppression and exploitation, a world fit for Josef and for all our children.
“Bitter sacrifice strengthens bold resolve
To make sun and moon shine in new skies.”
