SYRIA – the real news

beeleyOn Friday 17 & Saturday 18 December Vanessa Beeley, independent journalist recently returned from Aleppo, reported on the liberation of that city to two meetings organised with the support of the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist) in Bristol and Birmingham respectively.

In Bristol over 80 people gathered under the auspices of Bristol Against Imperialism, a local anti-war broad front, organisation to listen to the truth about the White Helmets who Vanessa proves are an agency of the terrorist forces backed by imperialism and its proxies.

A similar event in Birmingham sponsored by the local branch of the CPGB-ML, the Indian Workers Association, the Awami Workers Party (Pakistan), the JVP (Peoples Liberation Front – Sri Lanka) and the Socialist Labour Party was attended by about 50 people. Speaking to the meeting in Birmingham comrade Sheera Johal of the IWA(GB) praised Vanessa for exposing the lies of the corporate media and imperialists in the face of relentless danger in Syria and the continuing meddling of fascists and jihadists who attempted to disrupt the meeting in Birmingham as well as in Bristol. Comrade Paul speaking for CPGB-ML pointed out that Stalin had postulated what would be the fate of small nations and the workers of the world should the USSR fall and that life’s bitter experience had taught what a tragic loss the USSR had been.

What would happen if capital succeeded in smashing the Republic of Soviets? There would set in an era of the blackest reaction in all the capitalist and colonial countries, the working class and the oppressed peoples would be seized by the throat, the positions of international communism would be lost.” J. V. STALIN, Speech at The Seventh Enlarged Plenum of the E.C.C.I. (December 1926).

Comrade Paul asked the audience to listen carefully to Vanessa’s talk and to resolve to fight for the overthrow of British imperialism as the best contribution we could make in the cause of peace and justice and that the coordination of the various groups who had worked to host the events on 17 & 18 February was a positive step in the right direction.
